The past year has been brutal for our sector. Layoffs, hiring freezes, reduced budgets. Talented, experienced people applying to dozens, sometimes hundreds of roles with little result.

In 2025 I went through my own transition from employee to consultant. As I documented the process on LinkedIn, I've had numerous conversations with peers looking for inspiration for their own career journeys or simply wanting to compare notes on building visibility or how to find your footing in a contracting sector.

After hearing the same questions and repeating the same things enough times, I decided to write it all down.

The result is 20+ pages of everything I learned from building my positioning and personal brand from scratch. This guide is what I wish I had at the start of that process.

Absolutely FREE. Written by someone who's done this work, in this sector, in this market. Not a career coach, but a practitioner. I hope it helps!

This guide is for anyone working in climate, environment, and mission-driven organisations in general, who is navigating a career transition. Whether that means finding a new role, going freelance, figuring out what comes next after redundancy or trying to break into this field for the first time.

It's not a job application manual. It's a thinking and positioning tool designed to help you get clear on who you are professionally, what you want and how to show up for the right opportunities.
